“This tree-planting initiative is our response to the public action plan launched by Social Enterprise 'Good Deal Exchange' in collaboration with the Forestry Bureau, aimed at restoring the coastal windbreak forest in Zhuangwei Township, Yilan. CHENHOW MARBLE is unequivocally a company that values sustainable development and environmental protection. This project goes far beyond planting trees merely for check-in photos; professional caretaking teams will nurture the land long-term, cultivating it into a sprawling citizen forest spanning over ten thousand ping.”
Mr. Po-kun Chen, Founder of CHENHOW MARBLE
The world's first coastal forest planted for the planet through civic crowdfunding came to life in Taiwan in 2021. Championing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and pursuing carbon neutrality, we are keeping pace with global sustainability efforts. Good Deal Exchange (GPE), in collaboration with the Forestry Bureau, launched this joint action to utilize idle land to build atmospheric carbon sequestration capacity through new planting and vegetation restoration. Every single tree can be observed via live online streaming, allowing supporters to track real-time carbon reduction metrics and planting records—cultivating a lasting forest of sustainable goodwill.

As our brand expands, CHENHOW MARBLE continually seeks meaningful ways to give back to this land. Beyond striving to become the premier benchmark in luxury stone, 2021 marked a pivotal milestone—we expanded into Central and Southern Taiwan markets, offering discerning homeowners access to top-tier natural stone in line with international trends. Simultaneously, we are honored to participate in the Citizen Forest Initiative. CHENHOW MARBLE has adopted 300 trees along the coast of Yilan, supported by professional tree-planting teams to nurture them into a complete windbreak forest of ten thousand trees over the long term. Through this modest effort, we aim to spark broader action, fulfill our corporate social responsibility, and contribute to a better, more vibrant Taiwan.

The Environment is a Gift to the Next Generation
The true importance of a windbreak forest lies in the deep root systems plants anchor into sandy soil, with branches and leaves swaying along seasonal winds as the trees withstand the daily onslaught of monsoons and waves. Coastal terrain is notoriously harsh and inhospitable to plant life, requiring immense effort and care to maintain. Why, then, do we persist in building windbreak forests across such barren lands? As early as 1937, during Taiwan's Japanese colonial period, coastal windbreak forests were officially designated as protection forests in forestry records—gently safeguarding the lives and homes of local communities for nearly a century. The ten thousand trees in this project will protect 4.3 hectares of land from windblown sand.
Early in the morning of late November 2021, corporate representatives and the Forestry Bureau gathered at the birthplace of the Citizen Forest along the coast of Zhuangwei Township, Yilan, to plant the very first seedling of this project. We envision this forest becoming a model for Taiwan's future environmental sustainability. Through a digital streaming platform, Good Deal Exchange will enable every participating citizen to monitor the growth of these trees online at any time.
