FAQ

How Are Stone Slabs Priced?
Natural stone pricing is based on 'cai' (equivalent to 30x30 cm per unit). A full slab typically averages 60 cai, with unit prices ranging from NT$200 to NT$4,000. CHENHOW MARBLE guarantees transparent pricing across all selections. We invite you to visit our gallery with your project measurements; our dedicated experts will gladly assist you with slab calculations. Please be advised that installation costs provided prior to on-site measurement remain rough estimates.

Notes & Terminology:

Cai (才): The standard measurement unit used for natural stone in Taiwan. 1 cai = 30 x 30 cm (approximately 0.97 sq. ft. or 0.09 sq. m.).

Slab (大板): Refers to a full-sized, natural stone panel cut directly from the block. An average stone slab measures around 60 cai.

Pricing Range: Unit prices vary depending on the rarity, origin, and characteristics of the natural stone.

On-Site Measurement: Final installation fees are subject to precise on-site spatial measurements conducted by professional craftsmen.
Is All Natural Stone Available in Stock for Purchase?
Exactly!

Unlike mass-produced tiles, natural stone cannot simply be reordered. Every slab is unique—patterns vary even among stones from the same quarry or different cuts of the same block. Since CHENHOW MARBLE offers exclusively rare luxury stones, all sales are based on our current in-stock inventory. When you discover a piece that perfectly fits your design, we suggest reserving it on the spot. We are pleased to offer complimentary storage for your purchased slabs.
Why can't stone slabs be purchased out of sequence?
To ensure seamless pattern continuity and precise book-matching.

Stone slabs are sliced sequentially from a single natural raw block and numbered accordingly. Because natural vein patterns evolve through geological layers, slab No. 1 and slab No. 10 can look noticeably different. If a client purchases middle numbers out of sequence, it prevents future clients from acquiring consecutive slabs for matching patterns. Therefore, purchases must be made starting from either the first or last available slab of a given block.
Can stone slabs be installed as a full, uncut piece?
It depends on the specific site conditions.

A full stone slab typically weighs over 200 kilograms. For safety and structural reasons, slabs are usually cut into manageable sections to facilitate transport and installation. Installing an entire uncut slab depends on the entry pathways, doors, and windows at the site. For high-rise buildings in urban areas, crane hoisting and a larger team of specialists are required, which naturally increases labor costs and operational risks. CHENHOW MARBLE has catered to many clients who appreciate the uncompromised beauty of full-piece natural stone and frequently handles such custom requests. Please feel free to consult with us regarding your project needs.
Is there a risk of wall-mounted stone slabs falling off?
Rest assured, safety is fundamentally guaranteed.

Situated in a seismically active zone, Taiwan demands the utmost precision and caution in stone installation craftsmanship. While news reports occasionally feature ceramic tiles peeling off or buckling on outdoor facades, there has never been a recorded incident of indoor stone wall cladding falling in domestic residences.
How do you distinguish between marble, granite, and quartzite?
Generally speaking, they are classified by hardness:

Marble: Mohs hardness 3–5. Widely utilized in residential spaces for its classic elegance.

Granite: Mohs hardness around 6. Dense and durable, commonly applied to exterior facades and heavy-footprint flooring.

Quartzite: Mohs hardness around 7. Featuring the highest natural hardness with exceptional acid and alkali resistance, quartz as a mineral is also a primary component used in engineered stone.

For standard residential applications—such as feature walls, entryway floors, or coffee tables—the strength of any natural stone is more than sufficient. However, for high-use areas involving dining, food prep, or bathroom wet zones, we recommend materials with a hardness level of granite or higher.

Quartzite is currently the most popular natural stone trend internationally. Combining the artistic veining of marble with unmatched durability, it is highly favored across Europe and North America for kitchen island countertops. CHENHOW MARBLE is proud to have been the pioneer in introducing premium quartzite in large volumes to the domestic market.
Why do interior designers always recommend the same few stone options?
Because they are considered safe, conventional choices.

When presenting proposals, most designers tend to suggest lower-risk options for clients. However, those popular stone choices have been mainstream for decades, and older quarries are producing fewer top-quality slabs. At CHENHOW MARBLE, we offer a vastly richer and superior selection of natural stones. If you demand uncompromised aesthetic taste and hold a distinct vision for your living space, visiting our gallery will undoubtedly help you discover the perfect stone that reflects your signature style.
Can homeowners visit your galleries independently to view stone slabs?
Without a doubt.

We pride ourselves on total price transparency. Across CHENHOW MARBLE’s four showroom locations in Northern, Central, and Southern Taiwan, expert consultants provide personalized guided tours. We encourage embarking on stone selection during the initial design phase to integrate the finest natural stone seamlessly into your residence's centerpiece feature.
