雲中翡翠 is a natural stone defined by its poetic interlacing of deep green and pure white. Celebrated for its unique veining and spatial expressiveness, global designers from Dubai and Shanghai to Xi'an and New York have embraced this material for custom bars, feature walls, kitchens, and hearths—using it as the foundation for spatial narratives. Today, we explore several remarkable projects to see how 雲中翡翠 is translated into the contemporary language of luxury stone across diverse cultural contexts.
VERHAAL
Designed by Sydney-based architecture practice VERHAAL, KUMO is a modern Japanese restaurant nestled in downtown Dubai that interprets Oriental aesthetics through minimalist materiality and subtle textures. The space reflects their unique approach to Japanese dining atmospheres: restrained material choices, soft ambient lighting, and carefully orchestrated mirror reflections that convey understated elegance.
雲中翡翠 is applied extensively across the bar counter and feature walls, serving as the unifying soul of the interior. Sweeping diagonal moss-green veins against a pale green base evoke the flowing moss and gentle mist of a traditional Zen dry-landscape garden (karesansui). As natural and artificial light shifts, it casts layered green hues and emotional warmth. Complemented by curved edging, warm timber veneers, and bespoke light fixtures, the stone’s raw hardness is softened—embodying the Eastern spatial philosophy of "negative space" (Ma) and quiet serenity.

自然界·江月上疊
In 《自然界·江月上疊》,designer Du Wenbiao (Guangzhou GBD Design) utilizes 雲中翡翠 to trace the dynamic tension of the earth’s natural geology. From afar, it conveys the unstoppable momentum of surging rivers between sky and land; up close, it reveals layered ripples reminiscent of deep valley streams—embedding natural topography directly onto vertical surfaces.
Juxtaposed with artistic lighting and a panther sculpture, the space resonates with a dialogue of "wild nature meets haute luxury." The designer frames the stone within sweeping architectural curves, akin to opening a natural museum where every slab becomes a readable landscape.

Chris Shao Studio
In this refined residential project curated by Chris Shao Studio, 雲中翡翠 is applied as a book-matched feature facade directly above the fireplace, serving as the home's visual centerpiece. Curved wall panels showcase diagonal veining meeting at the center, unfolding like layered mountain ranges to introduce fluid yet grounded energy. Framed by warm beige timber paneling and soft furnishings, 雲中翡翠 stands poised—balancing strength and gentleness without overpowering the space, creating a serene residential rhythm attuned to nature.

上海 弘安里
Designed by PROL, the kitchen within Shanghai's Hong’an Li residence employs 雲中翡翠 to echo urban memories of traditional Shikumen architecture through natural textures, connecting spatial atmosphere with emotional warmth through light and shadow.
雲中翡翠 demonstrates rhythmic grace under shifting light, extending seamlessly from kitchen island countertops up to window reveals and ceiling planes to form a layered green vista. This approach expands the kitchen's vertical volume while blurring the line between daily utility and fine art—allowing the culinary space to maintain quiet composure and rich detail in everyday life. The stone acts as an emotional catalyst and light receptor, bridging cultural heritage with modern living rhythms.

Art Basel Hong Kong: Curating Luxury Stone in Contemporary Art
At Art Basel Hong Kong 2024, CHENHOW MARBLE partnered with Each Modern (亞紀畫廊) to introduce 雲中翡翠 into Asia’s premier art fair. The stone was selected to craft the plinth for sculptural works by the late master artist Chen Ting-Shih. The dynamic tension of its black, green, and white veining engaged in a dramatic aesthetic dialogue with the time-worn iron textures of Chen’s sculptures.
Maggie Huang, founder of Each Modern, noted that this collaboration represented not only a dialogue between space and art, but a creative movement bringing luxury stone onto international art platforms. From prestigious art fairs to private homes, 雲中翡翠 proves it is far more than raw material—it is a vessel connecting art, architecture, and human emotion.

A Creation Medium for Spatial Soul
We champion 雲中翡翠 because of its profound beauty and uninhibited freedom.
Within CHENHOW's curated collection, certain extraordinary stones are occasionally overlooked—雲中翡翠 is one of them. While it may not be the loudest presence, every time it is realized within a space, it delivers a transformative impact that exceeds expectations. We recommend it not because of fleeting trends, but because it bestows completeness and soul to an interior.
For many architects, 雲中翡翠 serves as a creative canvas capable of anchoring design concepts, conversing with light, and responding to culture. It effortlessly integrates into minimalist residential, culinary, hospitality, or fine art domains—elevating the entire environment into a complete, poetic sanctuary.
